Father's Day 7 Layer Bars and what I did with leftovers

Around Christmas time my dad had brought home some 7 layer bars a woman at his office had made for everyone. He was a big fan so he asked for the recipe to give to me and I didn't get around to making them until this past fathers day, hehe.

So here they are! Wasn't especially sure how they were supposed to look, and there were no layers to be had in the end, but they were still tasty!

Seven layer bar win! No sliced pictures, sorry!

I have this issue where I'll buy a particular type of chips for something then I keep them forever because I move on to something else. So after the bars I had chocolate chips, butter scotch chips, walnuts and coconut to use up.

So I made these cute toll house island cookies. Haha, mine do not look as perfect as the picture on their recipe page but mine are much more fun! They helped use up the coconut and walnuts. I used the rest of my dark chocolate chips instead of milk plus some white chocolate chips sitting around. I have plans for the butterscotch chips though, don't worry!

ginormous cupcake cake

Thought I'd blog while my nails dry but not in the mood. So just one picture of a giant cupcake cake, filled with chocolate pudding! my mom actually made it for Dave for his birthday. :o) yyyaaayyy! It's done with a special silicone pan. It came out pretty cute! There is a similar metal pan at target and whatnot which I sort of want, but this one got the job done!

amigurumi cupcake craving

I've had an urge to crochet an amigurumi cupcake for quite some time now, but I find summer not conducive to crochet for me. But it finally happened a week or so ago and it was super fast and cute! Pattern is from Amigurumi World, by Ana Paula Rimoli, who else?

Photos live in my crochet critter set on flickr.

Also, my sexy lava cake was invited to be added to a group called Sliced Cake with other sexy sliced cakes. More of the lava cake story here. Cool.

Lavah Cake Story

These are from a box mix but they're pretty sexy and tasty. Each box makes 4 mini lava cakes and when Dave and I tried to make them for my parents we baked them too long and there was no lava to be had. :o( So I wanted to share photos to prove the lava deliciousness.

Chewy Choco Chip Success and Smoothie Recipe

Dear Blog,

I hope this post finds you well! I've found certain times of year are just not conducive to crafting for me! I do apologize for the lack of updates, but I hope you understand.

However, hear are some photo updates from this month to hold you over:

Sexy chewy chocolate chip cookie success! I love chewy chocolate chips but unfortunately I always had some trouble finding a recipe that actually stayed chewy. I got the recipe from Crisco. :o) More baking adventures on Flickr.

Only in the past week or two I've gotten really into smoothies! I'm the junk food queen and am not into snacking on fruit so I'm trying to trick myself into having more fruit by making smoothies. I had a book with some recipes but really, I'm finding them not necessary. Here's the recipe for my Sunday morning Pineapple Strawberry smoothie for you anyway. ;o)

Easiest Pineapple Strawberry Smoothie Ever

1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/4 vanilla yogurt
3/4 cup frozen strawberries
Blend!

Best,

Kim

hello again crafty blog

i've been distracted from crafting, i have no excuse.

i finished my mittens then started to make some squares to use up some acrylic but I've had no printer and couldn't print the pattern. it annoyed me to set up my lap top next to me every time i wanted to crochet. but now thanks to a new job I have a printer and a black berry so my patterns can travel with me. However, I've moved on to attempting bunny slippers. it's slow going as i'm trying very hard to keep myself busy outside of my apartment these days.

But, here are some bad ass skull pot holders i made for candace ever and ever ago. I think they might have been meant as a christmas present but i just go to give them to her when i saw her last (two?) weekends ago.

I like how they came out, changing colors is fun plus there's no weaving in ends til the end. I might make a set for myself... but for now on to pics!

epic mitten win

For the past year or so I've been trying to make a decent pair of mittens. the patterns i've tried have always sucked, or i make the way wrong size, but when i saw these mittens in crochet today while in starbucks, I immediately bought the whole issue.

Looking at it closer, I realized it was in something called tunisian stitch, which i'd never heard of in my life. So, I would go ahead and just learn it. I had some links online but this book was the most helpful! It was a Christmas present from Niki, so thank you thank you!

It was slow going for awhile, plus I've never cross stitched on anything in my life either. I got better at it by the time I got to mitten number 2 though! And by the time it was time to seam them up it sort of rushed through it. But at the end of the day I like them! They fit and they turned out well and I wear them! ::gasp::

More mitten goodness to follow...
